Daal/Recipe For Beginners!! Sadha Jevan 5 !! Simple Indian Food 5 !!





                                                   Daal Recipe/ Lentil Soup
                                                           
·      tuvar dal/arhar dal: 1 cup
·      Oil 1 TBSP
·      Green chilies :7 to 8
·      Garlic cloves: 3 to 4
·      Ginger: ¼ inch
·      Curry leaves 7-8
·      Mustard Seeds: 1 TSP
·      Cumin seeds: 1 TSP
·      Asafetida 2 pinches
·      Turmeric powder 1/2 teaspoon
·      Fresh coriander leaves chopped 1 tablespoon
·      Salt to taste


No. of servings: 4 to 5


1.     Wash toor daal , and then soaked 1 cup toor daal and in 2 & ½ cup water for at least 15 minutes.
2.     Add daal and water in a Pressure cooker, add 1 tsp of turmeric, a pinch of turmeric and add 1 tsp of oil, cover the lid and pressure cook this for 3 whistles.
3.     If you haven’t soaked the daal then, pressure cook this for 4 to 5 whistles.
4.     Chopped everything when daal is pressure cooking.
5.     Wait till pressure release naturally. Open cooker, Mashed daal with hand whisker.
6.     Add oil in a pan, gas is on the medium flame when oil is hot enough, add mustard seeds, Cumin seeds.
7.     Then goes in roughly chopped garlic, ginger, chilies, curry leaves, add tomatoes. Give it a mix.
8.     Add 1 tsp of turmeric, and salt to taste.
9.     Finally, add mashed Daal.
10.  You can add a cup of hot water to adjust the consistency.
11.  Bring it to boil.
12.  Garnished with cilantro and serve with rice or roti.
