Tamarind Sauce
Hi, guys welcome back to my channel! Today we will be making Tamarind sauce, which is a popular condiment in India to eat with street foods such as samosa and kachori. It has a sweet and tangy taste which will go well with your favorite Indian snacks.
Tamarind: ½ cup
Dates: 1 cup
Jaggery: ½ cup
Water: 1 cup
Salt : Taste
Chili powder: 1 TSP (Optional)
Coriander Powder: 1 TSP (Optional)
Chat Masala: 1TSP (Optional)
- Add tamarind, dates, and jaggery in a pressure cooker/instant pot.
- Add 1 cup of water.
- Close the cooker or instant pot
- Now pressure cook this for 3 whistles.
- If you are doing this in an instant pot, then cook it on normal pressure for 12 minutes.
- We are doing this step because we will get a good pulp out of tamarind and dates when we pressure cook them.
- After 3 whistles, turn off the gas.
- When pressure is released naturally, take this mixture in a strainer.
- When it is cooled properly, use a spatula to take out all the pulp.
- When you get the pulp you can add salt chili powder, coriander powder, or chat masala. All powders are optional. You can add as per your own taste.
- Add water if you want to adjust the consistency.
- Now your chutney is ready. You can eat it with samosa or with other snacks.
